The Key To Successful Goal Setting Is To Be S.M.A.R.T.

It seems like the first thing anyone will tell you about being successful is to focus on successful goal setting. But when you’re not exactly sure what kind of goals you should be setting, it can be a challenge to know what you need in order to succeed in both your professional and personal life. Sure, it’d be nice to tell yourself that you’ll become extremely wealthy, retire early from your job and then travel the world; after all, many people are successful because they dream big! But these kinds of goals will psychologically set you up for failure, because – at first - they can’t be realistically attained, which will make you feel like an absolute failure. So where should you begin to avoid this pitfall? The key is to think S.M.A.R.T:

Specific – Goals that are specific are much more productive that general goals, as they give you a concrete direction in which to take your personal and professional life. For example, if you want to earn $100,000 in sales during your first year of opening that home based business you’ve always dreamed about, you’d have a better chance at success by setting up tangible ways to get there – such as developing effective marketing schemes or expanding your clientele base – as opposed to just expecting to make that money.

Measurable – Whether you’re setting a goal to lose those last few pounds or build that successful online home based business, you’re going to need those goals to be measurable. So what does it mean to set measurable goals? Simple: a measurable goal is one that can be tracked throughout your progress. For example, by setting a measurable goal of losing five pounds within a month, you can keep track each week of the progress you’re making towards the fulfillment of your desired outcome.

Attainable – In order to succeed, you’ll need to be able to establish goals that you can realistically reach. When you reach these goals, your confidence and self-image will flourish, which in term will have a direct impact on your own professional and personal life.

Realistic – This is similar to attainable goals. For example, if you are building that home based business, a realistic goal might be to increase profits by 25% in the 2nd quarter, or simply gain a certain number of new clients. However, an unrealistic goal might be expecting to earn several millions of dollars in your first year of operation. Dream big, but be reasonable - this is an easy way to set yourself up for failure!

Timely – A time frame will tie in all of these factors together, and make it easier to track the progress of your goals. Don’t use “someday” for a time line; instead, set concrete deadlines, such as “By December 1st, I will save up $600 towards my dream trip to Australia”. See how motivating this can be?

In the end, only you will know what kind of goals you’ll need to set in order to succeed. But if you get stuck trying to come up with goals that make sense for you, just remember to think S.M.A.R.T!

Make 2010 Your Best Year Ever!

January 15th, 2010 | Author: Mavis Nong
Original Post: http://www.attractionmarketingonline.com/how-to-make-2010-your-best-year-ever/

The new year has arrived - a clean slate and a new start… This is an opportunity for many people to step back from their businesses and take a good look at what is working, what is not working and where do they want to go. So, are you ready to make 2010 your breakout year ever and explode your bank account?

I’m going to share with you the strategies and a roadmap to use for setting your goals and creating your vision. I learned these on a training call with one of my personal mentors, Norbert Orlewicz, a true leader, coach, visionary and a very successful network marketer. These strategies work as Norbert used them to build his 7-figure business in just a couple of years, after struggling in network marketing for 6 years!

A fact is, success doesn’t happen by accident and you can’t simply sit back and wish for it to happen. I often hear aspiring network marketers say: “I hope this works for me”. The truth is, it probably wont, because if you’re hoping something will work for you, you’re leaving it up to some chance or “magic” to become successful. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen :-(

Setting goals is the key to your success. Period. And there is a lot more that goes into achieving your goals than just writing them on a piece of paper.

Here are the strategies:

1. Creating A Vision In 2010

This is more than just setting your goals and it’s very important as it will determine your success. You need to get connected to your ‘WHY’ and keep reminding yourself WHY you are doing what you’re doing. This is your vision, misson and driving force. If your ‘WHY’ is big enough, then you’ll figure out the ‘HOW’.

In network marketing, just like in any other industry, you’ll encounter obstacles and challenges and you would have to embrace that if you want to be successful. So, if your WHY is not big enough, then you’ll feel sorry for yourself, crumble and go back to your comfort zone. “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom” ~ Jim Rohn

2. Begin With Where You’re At

This is when you review and reflect on the previous year to see what has worked, what didn’t, what were your successes, failures, good and bad decisions. It’s very important that you do this and think about how you can improve.

You also need to begin in gratitude. And this can be a challenge if things are not going well in your business – you may be frustrated, stressed and desperate to see your desired results. So, when you’re setting your goals in that state, you’re in a place of need and desperation. And that’s not a great place to be in if you want to create abundance. You must practice living in abundance. You have to decide in your mind that you’re successful and do the things that successful people do.

3. Design Your Life

Goal-setting is important for every aspect of your life, not only for your business – relationships, family, emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, career and financial. So, you need to set goals and create a vision for your entire life. Think about the things that you want to achieve in life and focus on them. In my experience, they will be on your mind all the time. The key to having success in your life and in your business, is to know exactly what you want and stick to it. Many people try different opportunities, ideas and systems and quit when things don’t work out.

4. Work On Yourself

Most people work on their goals and successful people work on themselves. You see a goal is an effect and the cause is YOU. The issue is not your debts, your marriage, your business and so on, the issue is YOU. You must work harder on YOURSELF through personal development, than on your business. Ask yourself: “What do I have to BECOME to achieve my goals?” So, you need to focus on improving yourself, your attitude and skills and everything else in your life will improve.

5. Visualization

Do you visualize the things that you want in life? Make this a part of your life, create images of what you want to achieve and think about them all the time. Begin to act as if you already have what you want. Start acting like you’re already successful, then your daily activities will show that you are.

6. Take Massive Action

For every goal that you have set, you need to have clear action steps with deadlines. You need to implement right away, build a momentum and have a sense of urgency in what you do. Do you have the burning desire to succeed? “If you greatly desire something, have the guts to stake everything on obtaining it”. ~ Brendan Francis

These strategies will change your life and business in ways you could never imagine!

Discover the Four Secrets of Successful Goal Setting

We’ve all been at a point in our lives where setting realistic and attainable goals has been absolutely vital to reaching a desired outcome. Whether you’re looking to make a change in your professional or personal life, successful goal setting is all about identifying your key strengths and using them to your advantage. However, unless you’ve got a knack for effective goal setting, everyone could use a refresher course on how to develop and implement a smart and effective system that keeps you and your goals directly in the driver’s seat. No matter how big your goal is or how long it will take to reach it, you’ll need these four secrets to help you create the ultimate plan that will see you finally reaching your goals:

Write Them Down. Goals are easy to ignore if they’re cluttered in the back of your mind along with your grocery shopping list and looming office deadlines. However, once you write your goals down, you’ll continually be reminded of your commitment towards achieving them. Many people need the daily motivation that a simple reminder can provide; take advantage of this small step that reaps significant outcomes. Remember a couple of details: writing them down and hiding them in a drawer won’t help! They need to be where you can see them. Also, make your goals specific to the things you are trying to accomplish. If you are building an online home based business or a work from home business, make your little goals and your long term goals specific to your plans.

Practice Makes Perfect. You’ve probably heard this expression about a million times, but it still rings true, even when it comes to successful goal-setting: the more goals you set and reach, the more likely it is that you’ll achieve any long-term goals. Balance out any long-term goals with a few short-term ones; this will help you practice effective goal setting, which will be a useful skill you can use in both your professional and personal life. Additionally, reaching short-term goals can provide a much-needed ego boost that long-term goals rarely provide.

Make Your Goals Realistic. Sure, we’d all like to be famous rock stars or earn millions of dollars a year; but unless you’re the best guitar player the world has ever seen or have an innovative business idea, these goals are unlikely to be accomplished. Experts agree that unrealistic goals only encourage feelings of failure and discouragement, which is detrimental to any goals that you may consider setting in the future. Instead, make sure that your goals are realistic and attainable. Don’t forget to set up a realistic timeframe for accomplishing your desired goals – this will help you stay on track while keeping yourself accountable.

Give Yourself Rewards. The sense of accomplishment you’ll achieve when you finally reach your goal is a great reward; yet what about the milestones that you reach along the way? Reward yourself for making such great progress; for example, if you’re looking to land yourself a promotion at work, treat yourself to a massage after a week of late nights in the office. You’ll burn out less quickly – and that’s crucial when attempting to achieve a long-term goal!

It’s no secret that effective goal setting is the key to reaching both professional and personal dreams – and these four strategies are crucial to the success of any goals that you may have for your own life. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to finally achieve those goals you’ve always desired to reach!

The Top 1 Percent

by Steve Pohlit

Link to Original post: http://stevereports.com/2009/12/the-top-1-percent/

The Top 1% (one percent) is not a measurement and comparison of wealth or ability. The Top 1% is a mindset. The mindset that you can and will achieve the goals you set for yourself. This mindset includes a bias for action. Action taken to follow a clear roadmap. Clear goals, a bias for action and a Top 1% mindset will result in you experiencing success way beyond what the general population or “the herd” can even imagine.

The idea of the Top 1% is primarily discussed in reference to the development of business revenue and profits. If you pay attention to the Top 1%, you will see a balance in the areas health and relationships. It may seem obvious, but if your health fails monetary success is meaningless. Valuable business coaching and self development programs provide guidance on balance.

Attributes of the Top 1%

There are no common traits. The Top 1% includes men, women, all nationalities, all age groups all professions. The one common attribute is mindset. The Top 1% has a dream and they take action in a rational way that brings the intended results.

I have worked with very large companies and smaller ones. These experiences have given me the opportunity to evaluate the difference between eagles and ducks. Of course eagles soar and ducks waddle and quack. Eagles have a laser beam focus on those elements of their business that make the most difference. They avoid flying into the side of a cliff.

The Top 1% invest in self development. J.T. Foxx, a successful entrepreneur, radio host in 18 markets, and author tells his audiences he invested $60,000 in business coaching and consulting for himself in 2009. He has budgeted $100,000 in 2010 for business coaching and consulting. He is also investing in focused training and development program for his organization.

J.T. openly discusses his vision and goal of creating a $100 million coaching and consulting company. I know he will and that goal is likely to be achieved within the next 12-18 months. Note the mindset. Less than five years ago J.T. was homeless and he just turned 30.

Sending you energy of health, happiness, prosperity
